Grief Recovery Northwest

" Support and training for times of difficulty"Struggling personally to cope with a loss or supporting children and young people through one? We can help.

The Support Programme is a 7 week step by step class, which shows you how to complete the actions necessary to recover from grief or loss of any kind. It is not a support group or drop in centre; nor is it counselling or therapy. It is a powerful, dynamic, sensible and accessible programme that is genuinely for anyone willing to take the necessary actions to help themselves, using the 'Grief Recovery Handbook' as the reference book.

This method has been used effectively by many thousands of grievers all over the world. The Support Group is exactly what it suggests - a group of people working on their own recovery alongside others, taking each small step together. There is no need to wait – no matter how recent the loss, The 'Grief Recovery Method' can be used to complete the unfinished business generated by any loss and allow the griever to return to a full state of 'aliveness'. If you feel you're 'existing' or 'coping' rather than living fully then this programme is definitely for you.

Testimonial - Sometimes you have to deal with your own grief in order to help others. This has helped me enormously and to understand grief experienced by other people - GB

Sadly our society does not teach us how to cope with our grief. We are merely expected to "get over it in time". But how long are we supposed to wait for the pain to go away? A month? A year? A lifetime?

A 'Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®' will provide you with a safe environment that will allow you to articulate your feelings and actively take part. Only those people who have been trained by an approved trainer from the Grief Recovery Institute are authorised to run this programme. During the sessions you will look at your old beliefs and behaviours, examine what losses you have experienced through your life; then learn to take the actions that will help you 'complete' the pain attached to those losses and let it go.

Please look at the 'Course Dates' page to find out when the next available course is running so we can book you a place. Our courses are very affordable and popular so book now to avoid delay.

The Grief Recovery Method® Pet Loss Recovery and Support Programme
We are also excited to announce the new The Grief Recovery Method® Pet Loss Recovery and Support Programme.

It is a 6-week programme using The Grief Recovery Handbook for Pet Loss as the text. If you’ve found yourself almost inconsolable after your pet died, please know that you’re normal. If you’ve found that your family and friends don’t seem to understand the level of your grief, please know that, too, is normal.

Your relationship with your pet is special—it’s a bond that is very different than those that human beings share with each other. When a beloved pet passes away, people often resort to incorrect mechanisms to deal with the grief, such as trying to move too quickly past the loss (dismissing the real impact), or even attempting to replace the pet immediately. However, these are merely two myths out of six that the authors discuss and dismantle in the book and the programme that accompanies it.
